Plumbing

You start with NCCER Introductory Craft Skills, the 40-hour CORE credential, and move into Plumbing Level 1 the week it ends. You register for both at the same time. One registration, back-to-back dates.

NCCER Plumbing Level 1 is part of the required training for many company apprenticeship programs, and it's built to get you hired as a helper or apprentice while you keep training.

Apprenticeship Note: CCWA provides the required classroom instruction. Registered apprenticeship employment must be established separately with an employer.

Credential: NCCER CORE and NCCER Plumbing Level 1

Schedule: Daytime or evening

This class is structured as a in-person class, with live classroom/lab training. Students learn the following content:

• Copper Pipe and Fittings
• Cast-Iron Pipe and Fittings
• Carbon Steel Pipe and Fittings
• Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing
• Fixtures and Faucets
• Introduction to Drain, Waste, and Vent (DWV) Systems
• Introduction to Water Systems

NOTE: Registration in NCCER CORE, or previous NCCER CORE certification, is required for enrollment in Plumbing Level 1. Already have your CORE credential? Call us — you may be able to enter Level 1 directly.

What's Included in Tuition?

• Instructor-led classroom and lab training for both CORE and Level 1

• NCCER CORE credential upon successful completion
• NCCER Plumbing Level 1 credential upon successful completion
• Registration in the NCCER Registry

This class serves as the second level of training in the Plumbing craft. Level 1 is a prerequisite unless enrollment is approved by a Program Coordinator.

Textbooks, online access code, and all materials are included in the cost of the class. Current plumbing code book is required. Computer and internet access are required for this hybrid class.

• Reading Commercial Drawings
• Hangers, Supports, Structural Penetrations, and Fire Stopping
• Installing and Testing DWV Piping
• Installing Roof, Floor, and Area Drains
• Types of Valves
• Installing and Testing Water Supply Piping
• Installing Fixtures, Valves, and Faucets
• Introduction to Electricity
• Installing Water Heaters
• Fuel Gas Systems
• Servicing of Fixtures, Valves, and Faucets

What's Included in Tuition?

• Instructor-led classroom and lab training
• Course materials
• NCCER Plumbing Level 2 credential upon successful completion
• Updated record in the NCCER Registry

This class serves as the third year of training in the Plumbing craft. Level 2 is a prerequisite unless enrollment is approved by a Program Coordinator.
