Electrical

You start with NCCER Introductory Craft Skills, the 40-hour CORE credential, and move into Electrical Level 1 the week it ends. You register for both at the same time. One registration, back-to-back dates.

Level 1 covers what employers test for: electrical theory, safety, circuits, the National Electrical Code, conduit, conductors, and test equipment. It's part of the required training for many company apprenticeship programs.

Location: Richmond, VA - Reynolds Community College Downtown Campus

Credential: NCCER CORE and NCCER Electrical Level 1

Schedule: Daytime or evening

This class is structured as a in-person class, with live classroom/lab training. Students learn the following content:

• Intro to Construction Drawings
• Basic Comm. Skills
• Employability Skills
• Introduction to the Electrical Profession
• Electrical Safety
• Electrical Circuits and Theory
• National Electrical Code
• Device Boxes, Raceways, Fittings, and Conduit
• Conductors and Cables
• Fasteners and Anchors
• Basic Electrical Construction Drawings
• Residential Electrical Services
• Electrical Test Equipment

NOTE: Registration in NCCER CORE, or previous NCCER CORE certification, is required for enrollment in Electrical Level 1. Already have your CORE credential? Call us — you may be able to enter Level 1 directly.

What's Included in Tuition?

• Instructor-led classroom and lab training for both CORE and Level 1

This class serves as the second level of training in the Electrical craft. Level 1 is a prerequisite unless enrollment is approved by a Program Coordinator.

Students are required to purchase the National Electrical Code book. Computer and internet access are required for this hybrid class.

The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) is the credentialing body for the NCCER Electrical level 2 certification. The Level 2 class expands upon Level 1 and introduces students to the following:

• Theory and Application
• Electrical Lighting
• Conduit Bending
• Pull and Junction Boxes
• Conductor Installations
• Cable Tray
• Conductor Termination and Slices
• Grounding and Bonding
• Circuit Breakers and Fuses
• Control Systems
• Fundamentals Concepts

What's Included in Tuition?

• NCCER Electrical Level 2 credential upon successful completion
• Updated record in the NCCER Registry

This class serves as the third year of training in the Electrical craft. Level 2 is a prerequisite unless enrollment is approved by a Program Coordinator.
