Class Description
Do you like working with your hands? Do you feel satisfied when you can fix something broken? Think about becoming an apartment maintenance technician! Apartment communities need maintenance technicians year-round, and you handle a little of every trade instead of specializing in one.
This program prepares you for entry-level maintenance work in the rental housing industry. It covers interior and exterior maintenance, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and appliance repair through lectures and hands-on labs.
What you'll cover:
- Interior and exterior maintenance
- Electrical maintenance and repair
- Plumbing maintenance and repair
- HVAC maintenance and repair
- Appliance maintenance and repair
- Mechanical, construction, and lock and key services and repairs
- Painting services
- Minimizing personal and property damage
- Maintenance safety
- Processing work orders efficiently and to residents’ satisfaction
- Fair housing regulatory compliance
- Environmental responsibility and regulatory compliance
Total Course Hours:
90 hours (in-person)
Full Tuition Cost:
$2,700 — FastForward price for Virginia residents: $900
Course Structure & Schedule
This is an in-person program, combining in-person instruction and in-person lab sessions.
No CORE prerequisite. You can register directly. Must be 18 years old.
Credential: Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician (CAMT) through National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI)
Schedule: Two days per week (Evening classes)
Location: Henrico, VA - Reynolds Parham Rd Campus
