Class Description
The Clinical Medical Assisting program is designed to prepare students to function as professionals in multiple healthcare settings. Medical assistants with a clinical background perform various clinical tasks including assisting with the administration of medications and with minor procedures, performing an EKG electrocardiogram, obtaining laboratory specimens for testing, educating patients and other related tasks. Job opportunities are prevalent with physician’s offices, clinics, chiropractor’s offices, hospitals and outpatient facilities. Clinical Medical Assistants should have or be pursuing a high school diploma or GED. Participants who complete this comprehensive course would be prepared to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national certification examination.

2 years (recertification requires CEU credits through NHA)

Course Structure & Schedule
This is a hybrid program, combining online instruction and in-person lab sessions. Students will receive a detailed course calendar on the first day of class.
Classes are held twice a week, either Mondays & Wednesdays, or Tuesdays & Thursdays
- Daytime Class: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Evening Class: 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

- Chester Campus-Brightpoint Community College
- Downtown Campus-Reynolds Community College

Getting Started
To get started, please create a student profile and register for our Virtual Healthcare Orientation. This is the first step toward enrolling in our healthcare classes. During orientation, you will learn about available programs, begin the registration process, and apply for grant funding that can cover up to 100% of your tuition.
Step 1: Create Profile Button
Click create a profile button.
Step 2: Once your profile is set up
- Use the search bar in the top right corner to find CCWA Healthcare New Student Orientation
- Click “Register” to enroll
Already taken a CCWA class? You probably already have an account-no need to create a new one.
Step 3: Canvas Login Information
After you create your student profile and register for orientation, you will need to complete the orientation course in Canvas.
Log in to the class here.
If you do not know your USERNAME, please click on "Forgot Username" and follow the prompts. You will need to create a password for your account. Once you have set your password, write this down as you will use this login information repeatedly to access the course materials and assignments.
